BRL 6006

What is process monitoring according to BRL 6006?

Protocol 6006 falls under the BRL SIKB 6000 and regulates the environmental guidance for remediation using in-situ techniques and groundwater remediation. It involves two tasks: process control (continuous adjustment during the remediation) and verification (determining that the remediation goal has been achieved).

With in situ techniques, the contamination in the soil itself is treated without excavation. Continuous monitoring is essential to verify whether the technique is working and when the remediation can be completed.

Our approach

From monitoring plan to final report

The same people who mapped the pollution are now carrying out the cleanup.

01. Develop a monitoring plan

We determine which parameters are measured, at which locations and with what frequency. This depends on the remediation technique, the soil structure and the objectives.

02. Field measurements and sampling

Our own field workers carry out the measurements and are also active as environmental consultants. The same people who mapped the pollution at the front now see what happens during the remediation.

03. Process management and reporting

Based on the measurement results, we initiate the remediation process. We periodically report to the client and the competent authority, and prepare the final report that forms the basis for the final decision.

What is the difference between protocol 6005 and 6006?

Protocol 6005 concerns environmental guidance for digging and remediation by excavation. Protocol 6006 concerns remediation that takes place in situ, i.e. without excavation, and groundwater remediation.

What certifications does Buro Antares have?

We are certified under BRL SIKB 6000 for protocols 6005 and 6006 (certificate BB 035-17, valid until June 2028). Additionally, we are BRL 1000 and BRL 2000 certified for batch sampling and exploratory soil testing.

Who is responsible for the remediation itself?

The physical execution is handled by the contracting contractor, often Verhoeve within our group. We manage the process, monitor the quality and confirm the final outcome.
