Water treatment design
In groundwater remediation, contaminated water must be treated on-site before it can be discharged into the sewer system or surface water. Buro Antares designs these purification installations, tailored to the contaminants and the requirements of the competent authority.
Water treatment
What is a water treatment design?
A purification plant that cleans contaminated groundwater to meet discharge standards. We adapt the design to the existing contaminants and the permit requirements.
- Chlored hydrocarbons
- Mineral oil and fuels
- Volatile aromatics (BTEX)
- Heavy metals in solution
Our approach
From remediation techniques to discharge permits
A well-thought-out design in three steps, tailored to pollution and the competent authority.
01. Determining remediation techniques
Based on the contamination, the soil structure and the project goal, we choose the most suitable technique. This could be air injection or extraction of soil air for volatile substances, or pump and treat for groundwater extraction.
02. Installation design
We dimension the purification installation based on the expected flow rates and concentrations. The design includes both the technical structure and the sampling and monitoring points.
03. Licensing permit
We work closely with the water quality manager for the discharge permit. The results of our monitoring form the basis for the permissible discharge standards.

Get in touchAre you also performing the performance?
We design and supervise the project. The physical installation and groundwater remediation are carried out by Verhoeve, our partner within Aurora Group.
How is the water quality monitored?
During the remediation, we continuously monitor the incoming and outgoing water flows. We use the results to adjust the installation and to demonstrate that the discharge standards are being met.
Do you also work with water reuse?
For soil remediation projects, our focus is on purification and discharge. For reuse applications such as in greenhouse horticulture, we refer to Agrozone within our group.
