In the heart of the Botlek, an 26-hectare old industrial site is being transformed into a greenfield development. In the 1960s of the previous century, a factory was established on the site for the production of anodes for the aluminum industry. In 12-meter-deep presses, tar and pitch anodes were formed that were baked in various 180-meter-long furnaces. Buro Antares is guiding this transformation regarding soil research and remediation.
Across 17 sub-areas with 52 spatial units suspected of soil contamination, Buro Antares has carried out over 150 soil investigations and various public hearings since 2023.
