The basics: systematically identifying hazards

The foundation of all Seveso obligations is the systematic identification of the hazards posed by hazardous substances within your company. This is followed by the further steps: safety management system, procedures, work instructions, emergency plan and documentation.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about this subject

What is the difference between a lower and a higher Seveso threshold facility?

With a lower threshold setting, lighter obligations apply than with a higher one. The classification depends on the quantities of hazardous substances you have in your home compared to the threshold values set out in the directive. Higher threshold settings must, among other things, draw up a safety report.

Do I need to update my Seveso documents regularly?

Yes. When changes occur in installations, processes, or the substance list, the documentation must be updated. In addition, a periodic evaluation applies. We help determine when and how extensive the update should be.

Do you also do external communication with the neighbors?

For some Seveso facilities, there is an information obligation towards the surrounding area. We advise on the content and format and can support the implementation.
