Our approach

The starting point: not everything needs to be removed

Under current legislation, not all pollution needs to be remediated. With good justification, you can leave pollution behind and design your development around it. This often saves significant costs.

The sooner we are involved, the more value we can add. In the planning phase, we advise on land layout that takes soil quality into account; in the design phase, we contribute ideas regarding foundations and underground structures.

  • Early involvement in the planning and design phase
  • Cost optimization calculated per scenario
  • Practical advice that makes plans feasible

Smart construction around contamination

We always go beyond the minimum required by law.

Deep excavations for parking facilities, basements or foundations cost extra in contaminated soil. By planning such features on clean areas and superficial features — green areas, hardscaping, storage — on the contaminated areas, you save on remediation costs and speed up the project.

Sometimes complete demolition is cheaper, sometimes covering or leaving it as is is financially more attractive. We calculate the scenarios and make them transparent.

To whom do we work?

  • Project developers with a development plan in preparation
  • Municipalities that want to transform areas
  • Companies that want to redevelop their premises
  • Architects and urban planners with soil issues

Frequently asked questions about spatial development

At what stage should we involve you?

Preferably in the planning phase or feasibility phase. Then we can advise on the layout of the site. In later phases, we can add a lot more, but by then the major decisions have often already been made.

Do you work with other advisors?

Yes. We regularly work with civil engineering consulting firms, architects, and planners. We are the soil specialist within a broader team.

Do you also provide advice on the ecological value of an area?

For ecology, we refer to Buiting Advies, which specializes in applied ecology within our group. They integrate natural values into area development.
