Soil specialists from Buro Antares make soil remediation of the Aluchemie industrial site possible

Buro Antares is involved in the redevelopment of the industrial site of Aluchemie. To give the site a new purpose, Aluchemie is restoring the site to a ‘greenfield’ on which development can take place within the intended use of the industrial area. The existing complex underground infrastructure is an important consideration here, ultimately to fulfill the objective of transforming the site into a GreenField. Due to years of activity on the site, various soil contaminations have arisen, for which pragmatic and effective soil remediation advice is needed!

Slowly, the elements are taking hold of the iconic factory of Aluchemie in the Botlek and holes are appearing in the enormous 26-hectare complex, where anodes for aluminum production were manufactured from 1965 onwards. The demolition of the factory is now well underway.

Buro Antares, together with Aluchemie, is responsible for preparing the remediation of the subsurface that will begin at the end of 2023. This is a complex task, in which various soil surveys have been initiated under the Soil Protection Act (Wbb) and the Environmental Protection Act (Wm), which are being carried out in close consultation with the competent authority.

A team of specialists from Buro Antares supports Aluchemie in the areas of project management, soil research, remediation preparation and supervision of the remediation process.

With the involvement of our expert specialists, we are achieving our goal. The company’s premises are being converted from brownfield to ‘greenfield’. Buro Antares is proud of the contribution it is making to the implementation of the GreenField Project, one of the larger remediation projects for the coming years. After the remediation, Advario will build an energy storage terminal on the 26-hectare site.
